 Summary of Interests/Message
One of my Gt Gt Gt grandfathers was James Smith born Liverpool 1810. James was a brass founder or finisher and the next 3 generations of James Smiths followed him in this line of work.

James Smith(1) my gt x3 grandfather, born Liverpool 1810, married his wife Margaret Kenyon of Garstang,Lancs, 6 Nov.1830 at the age of 20,at the church of St.John, Preston. At this time James was already a widower I know nothing of his first wife.

In the 1841 census the couple and their 2 children James (2) and Thomas can be found at:
Everton Gardens, Amounderness, ref.HO107/0499//15.

James and his family returned to his birthplace of Liverpool and can be found in the 1851 census at: 2 Cadick Buildings,Hornby St,Liverpool, ref.HO107/2176.
Young James had followed in his father's footsteps and trained as a brassfinisher, Thomas aged 13 is an iron moulder.

James (2) married Sarah Mills from Newry, N.Ireland at the church of All Saints, 30 October 1854. They can be found in the 1861 census at 12 Horatio St.Liverpool on ref. RG9/pc 2650.

James and Sarah had 3 children -
Margaret b.1859, she was my gt.grandmother and married my gt.grandfather William Edwards 18May 1879 at the church of St.Nicholas in Liverpool.
Their 2nd.child was named Thomas after his uncle, I have not yet researched Thomas so know nothing of him yet.
The 3rd.child of the marriage was named James (3) and he too trained as a brassfinisher. On the 3June 1883 he married my gt.aunt Margaret Mannix at the church of St.Vincent de Paul in Liverpool.
so I am related to the Smith family both through my gt.grandmother Margaret, and through James (3).

James and Margaret were to have 8 children,
the 1st child, again James (4), also trained as a brassfinisher, the 4th.James Smith in 4  generations of James Smiths' to do so.
The family can be found in the 1901 census at 83 Eden St.Liverpool on RG13/Pc.3437/Fo.82/page 15.
I have not yet researched any of the 8 children of James (3) and Margaret Mannix.

Below is a photo which dates from 1935, of my grandmother......

Margaret Mannix (nee Edwards) daughter of William Edwards and Margaret Smith. Born in Liverpool Feb.19th.1881 and died there in June 1965.[click on Margaret's image, & zoom for larger view]
