Reading Permanent Way Depot

Locomotives used at a site, adjacent to Reading Motive Power
Depot, (at SU 706 740), which was brought into use in 1972 to
replace Theale depot.

Theale Depot

Sidings served a site at SU 633 706 on the north side of the
BR (ex GWR) line west of Theale station, adjacent to the A4,
and now also the M4, roads.  The site was initially used as 
a waste tip and then as a permanent way pre-assembly depot
until 1972.  Subsequently a rail served oil depot has been
built on the site, shunted by BR capital stock locos.
